As explained to Chris (not here but in directly), this is not a problem with
the port but with the upstream.

Theproblem is fixed by the upstream and will be in the next release and the
port will be updated accordingly.

The upstream did povided a workaround: compile with bind8-stats enabled

Given this, I would like o consider this issue solved so we can close he
ticket.
