I updated a system to today's (i.e., Jun 9th) RELENG_6
without problems.

  FreeBSD slbf 6.1-STABLE FreeBSD 6.1-STABLE #9: \
  Fri Jun  9 13:17:51 IST 2006     \
  root@slbf:/home/obj/home/src-6x/sys/SLBF  amd64

You might want to run `mergemaster` and check whether
your /etc is upto-date.
