I don't known if XFree86 tried it without the XFree86 patch but in theory it should compile and work without it because mostly what their add-on patch does is add support for other systems like SCO, Interactive, OS/2, MINIX, etc. Perhaps you could elaborate on what part is failing to compile? I presume this is happening on a -current system? Without more information and without a -current system myself I'd suspect that someone broke something in -current. -- Kaleb
