You might want to have a look at my solution to this problem, it is available from ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/incoming/setnetparms.tar.gz. It consists of a simple database of network parameters (name, ipaddr, mask etc) and some scripts and a curses menu screen to select a set from the parameter database or enter a new set interactively. DHCP did not solve this problem for me, as i also work at sites where no DHCP is available and i got tired of editing all sorts of config files again and again. hellmuth -- Hellmuth Michaelis Tel +49 40 559747-70 HCS Hanseatischer Computerservice GmbH Fax +49 40 559747-77 Oldesloer Strasse 97-99 Mail hm@hcs.de 22457 Hamburg WWW http://www.hcs.de
