After recent update both Xorg autoconfiguration backends, UDEV and DEVD prefers evdev over previous mouse/keyboard protocols if kernel is compiled with EVDEV_SUPPORT option enabled. As GENERIC kernels enable this option since 12.1, xf86-input-libinput or xf86-input-evdev is required to handle inputs on current Xorg running on stock 12.1 kernel.
