One known bug in sysinstall is if it changes the partition type (vs. deleting and adding the partition), it won't write the disklabel. There is a patch for this in the pr database. Describe how you are partitioning and labeling the disk on freebsd-questions if you have further trouble. -Nate On Wed, 18 Sep 2002, Len Conrad wrote: > fbsd 4.6.2 > > Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle > Mounting root from ufs:/dev/da0s1a > > da1 at ahc0 bus 0 target 6 lun 0 > da1: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device > da1: 20.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 8, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled > da1: 8750MB (17921835 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1115C) > > da0 at ahc0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 > da0: Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device > da0: 20.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 8, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled > da0: 8678MB (17774160 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1106C) > > the da0 is cool, fbsd installed and booted. > > but when we run /stand/sysinstall to fdisk da1, and write the new > partition, it says "fail". > > Any suggestions about how to proceed? > > Thanks > Len > > > > > > > ____________________________________________________________________ > www.menandmice.com/DNS-training : DNS Training > BIND8NT.MEIway.com: Secure config ; DNS and mail interactions > IMGate.MEIway.com : Free, proven config for anti-mail-abuse gateways > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-scsi" in the body of the message
