You still need to do some configuration of your server. :) You don't need to '| more|' the error output. There is a log file which contains every jot and tittle of the error output that I snipped above. For xdm it is /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors. I guess that 'startx' has an ana'log' in a similar location. hehehe Pun Intended.
