I am using an adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI card, scsi id 0 is my CDROM, scsi ID 1 is the HD. It's a seagate Hawk 4XL 4.55 Gig HD, ST34555N/W.It's finding both devices fine. I go through the novice install and dedicate the entire disk to freeBSD. But during the install it first gives an error that swap can not be used, then I get "panic: Page fault" followed by the numbers 16 16 16 ..., or 256 256 256 ... and it auto-reboots. Looking through some of the errors while it tries to install, I get such things as the disk != slice. I tried changing the geometry of the drive, but freeBSD did not like the right values (6311/8/176) I tried installing a few times, and the values it would automatically select for the geometry varied each time. Oh, I bought two systems exactly the same, and it is happening on both systems, so I doubt it's a bad HD. Any idea what I should try next? -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Keith Pitcher kpitcher@weirdness.com http://www.andrews.edu/~keithp ICQ ID : 766858 "I want, for once and for all, not to know many things.
