If you haven't set the password to be used in a single-user mode (i.e. if you didn't set "insecure" for the console in /etc/ttys)- boot the computer into single-user mode (-s at the boot time ) mount the root partition (otherwise it is read-only) then the "FINAL" step below. 2. Boot from a floppy (e.g. install floppy, or may be fixit.flp), start a hologram shell. I think it should let you mount the root partition . then "FINAL" step below. 3. Install a minimum set of FreeBSD on a spare disc (binaries only), boot from it, and then mount the root partition of the "Main" installation. FINAL: edit /etc/master.passwd file, removing the password field from it for the root. Don't forget to run pwd-mkdb(8) after editing the /etc/master.passwd file. pwd-mkdb /path-to-mounted-partition/etc/master.passwd Hope that helps. Igor > Can somebody please help me.
