I suggest you try the latest 9.0-RC1. Acer is notorious for 
FreeBSD-unfriendly BIOSes, my 5739G has several problems with every 7.X 
to 8.X release including panics and failing to attach to devices such as 
network cards and wireless. 9.0-RC1 seems to work ok though.
