In particular the building with -NOPERL and the mknod parts. The upgrade from 3.x to a 4.x works IF you follow the steps exactly. Once you get past 4.0 things are quite easy. I did the 3>4 and it took the longest of all because of the extra steps. Follow UPDATING EXACTLY.
