It's only being released because it was promised, and there won't be a 3.5 CD. The idea is that if 3.5 were released on CD and publicised, people (read: Linux users) would spread endless amounts of FUD like "FreeBSD 4 can't be stable or they wouldn't be releasing 3.5". I suggest you get rid of your fears about 4.x. It's called -STABLE for a reason, you know.
