UDF (Universal Disk Format) is the file system for DVDs.  There are a
couple of variants and rumblings of backward compatibility with ISO 9660
with at least one variant.  You can download the latest spec from OSTA
at:

I also found Jim Talor's "DVD Demystified" (McGraw-Hill) very useful as
an introduction to DVD.  I believe he also maintains the DVD FAQ at
