Thanks for all the help with my strange firewall situation.
I was not able to automate the process and have decided to
download the entire ports.tar.gz skeleton (9mb) file when 
I need to update (not very often).  I use the 

	make search key=myport 

switch to find and download the dependancies before I build 
the port.  Not pretty but it works  :)
