All three are commonly used to describe a probability or likelyhood of something happening or just an ability for something to happen. Some people would reserve "might" for the past tense of "may". Others insist that "may" be used only for "permission" and "can" only for "ability". (I usually prefer "might" in situations like this and think "may" is the worst choice.) How about this? ! and for verbosity. ! Careless use of often results in ! OS crashes and damaged filesystems. An explanation including typical bad uses would be nice, but I don't feel qualified to suggest one.
