I understand that they aren't security updates, per se, however it is an EOL issue as you have pointed out. I'm not certain if this could possibly fall under errata, but it does seem appropriate that if the branch isn't reaching EOL, and if third-party software will, it should be dealt with in some way for supporting the community through the RELENG_7_x tag.
