res_* _are_ the bind api. nonetheless, the files are quite original, see
res_mkquery.c for example...

there are a lot of client deps btw... dig, host,... and it brings you
wonderful string formatting and other quirks i do not have the stamina
for to dig in further. from what i can see, there might be an overflow
possibility in host.c in the name formatting, but i am really not the c
wizard here so someone into security auditing might check this one out ;-)

from my releasebuilder machine /etc/make.conf:
NO_BIND=3Dtrue
NO_SENDMAIL=3Dtrue

i guess this stands for itself=20
