From the system's daily security check on one of the machines, it reports this error: "Checking for passwordless accounts: root::0:0::0:0:Charlie &:/root:/bin/csh" I suspect the above occurred when updating and I ran into the snag about unknow user "smmsp" for the sendmail 8.12 thing. After placing the "new" sendmail users in group and passwd, I ran pwd_mkdb master.passwd to update the database. Apparently, I screwed up during the "mergemaster" stage (or somewhere) because on reboot, my normal users were missing and root didn't have a password (just hitting enter got in). BUT, I went into /stand/sysinstall and reset the password, or so I thought.... at lease when I login as root, it accepts the password... so, I'm puzzled about the "passwordless account" message. Since the problem is with root, I'm concerned I may mess up further. What should I do to correct this before things get screwed up more....??? Thanks. .... our website: http://www.sage-one.net/ Best regards, Jack L.
