Yes. I must've been thinking of Star Wars!

Its visual interface is sparse (like twm or xfig) and
reflects the era it was designed in.  It is very mouse driven
so ncurses wouldn't make sense.  Its debugging capabilities
are outstanding but you have to use it to see that.
