DEBUG=1 on -CURRENT has not been tested at all. -CURRENT had stability
problems whole past week. zipdep failiure sounds familiar, I have a
patch for it somewhere.

Yes. You should be able to compile OO without debug and recompile
various subcomponents using 'build debug=true' command. You'll need tcsh
and you will have to source FreeBSDEnv.Set from it to have build
environment set correctly.
