Note that the ALR uses a custom (non-IMPS) bus. If only because that's the only way to keep 4 pentium CPUs in a cache-coherent state... The documentation for this glue logic seems to be very hard or impossible to find, some of the Linux SMP hackers I know have tried to get it and came up emptyhanded.
