Perhaps it's taking a while to respond? Does your home IP address reverse-resolve? Try running 'host <home-ip-address>' on the FreeBSD machine. If it takes forever to respond then that's your problem; contact the ISP responsible for <home-ip-address> and ask them to fix their reverse DNS resolution.
