Unfortunately, getting libtool (which this port uses) to accept anything at all is a royal pain, which is why my earlier patch didn't work (It was dumping the LDFLAGS, but not CFLAGS on the floor). Either libXThr needs to be fixed, we use beep-media-player, we provide our own stubs inside of our own code, or we force some hackish workaround on libtool.
