How difficult would adding multipath support to the SCSI be? I'd like to be able to access an external storage system using two busses. I've heard rumours that such a thing is in the works. I also wonder whether there is any kind of very unique serial number in the partition table or disklabel that could be used by such a system for autoconfiguration. For instance, if the disk at bus 0, target 1 and the disk at bus 1, target 2 have the same serial number, they must be the same disk, so use multipath? Or am too much of an optimist?
