It's a LBA 48 bits access problem on second channel. After applying you're patch (just on ata-chipset.c) on FreeBSD 5.4, everything work fine for me. The test on channel in case of 48 bits access (ch->unit ? 0x24 : 0x20) solve the problem. Today i use FreeBSD 5.4 on K7T266Pro2RU (Promise PDC20265) whith RAID0 2x200Go bootdisk.
