I've been having a problem that is exactly the same as outlined in http://news.gw.com/freebsd.newbies/5472 when attempting to install FreeBSD 4.8 on my IBM Thinkpad AT clone (486). The same problem occured when I used floppies of different versions including 4.6 and 4.7. I tested the floppies on one of my other machines and the Kernel Configuration Menu came up fine, no reboot. Is it impossible to install FreeBSD via floppies on this machine? Will the images work? Thanks.
