pcvt is not foreign (it existed since 386BSD 0.1), sio certainly even
less. :-)

And then, what's a ``standard service''?  Even syscons has been
missing this ``standard service'' for very long, so it's been
``non-standard'' before?

No, i don't buy this.  I agree with those who do wish to have the
boot messages less verbose.
