I have been a user only and not a kernel developer. I built myself a custom kernel with the kernel config file attached at the end of this email. It works. However, if I remove some of the unused NICs (for example fxp, rl, sf), the kernel complains that it cannot find device ad and waiting with a 'mountroot>' prompt. I built a kernel with DDB and boot the kernel with -v. Of course, I cannot really see the messages as they scroll by rather quickly. In addition, all the messages are not on disk, as the disk is not mounting yet. How can I proceed to find out why this is happening and how to fix this problem?
