Remove it. PR ports/37649 (devel/pear: unbreaking, upgrading to 4.2, and adding Log module) has quite a bit of update info on this port. If I remember correctly, the pear that is shipped with php is horribly out of date. I seem to recall that the long term plan was to ship the pear stuff apart from the php releases (something like perl and CPAN).
