I ran into a little bug where portfmt's variable sorting is rearranging the
words in the COMMENT.  Here's an example:

# portfmt -D1 -U Makefile
--- Makefile
+++ Makefile
@@ -9,3 +9,3 @@

+COMMENT=3D       -U a alphabetically complete is portfmt sentence sort Thi=
