You situation sounds similar to mine. I have NT4 on one machine and BSD 3.4-RC on another. My modem is on the BSD machine and the two machines are connected by ethernet. The BSD machine dials out for either of them. I preferred to hardcode any ip addresses on the NT4 client; not a hardcoded "disconnected" ip address for itself or the BSD machien, not my isp's dns servers, no hosts files, etc.. I have the BSD machine running dhcpd; the bsd machine is something like the default dhpcd gateway and the "normal" default gateway. Once I knew what settings to edit, it was easy. I also have Samba (and nmbd) on the BSD machine for peer file sharing. My configuration files are not handy.. - Jay ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan O'Connor <dan@jgl.reno.nv.us> To: <c.raven@ukonline.co.uk>; <freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG> Sent: December 19, 1999 2:13 PM Subject: Re: ppp -nat -auto <my ISP> > Hi, Chris! > > Check this: > > Open Control Panel | Network, select the TCP/IP protocol for your adapter > card, click on Properties, go to the Gateway tab, and make sure you have > your FreeBSD machine's network IP address listed in Installed Gateways. > > Otherwise, enter it in the New Gateway text box and click on Add. > > Hope this solves it! > > --Dan > > ** The thing I like most about Windows 98 is... > ** You can download FreeBSD with it! > > > >I am having problems with Windows '98 and FreeBSD running ppp -nat. > > > >Basically, The FreeBSD box with the connection is configured to use > >ppp -nat, this works fine for the other FreeBSD boxes on the network, they > >can reach the internet no problem.
