this should be on questions i think.

give us a look at your ppp.conf [remove your username and password of
course :-)]

also two things you might try are

disable pred1
deny pred1
 which disables the CCP/Predictor type 1 compression features, dunno what
that is but it's in the pedantic ppp primer

and

disable lqr
deny lqr
 which turns off line quality status reporting (again from the primer)
