I have discussed this with the samba-devel maintainer some time ago=20

up with a PR that implements exactly what I proposed=20
(http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=3Dports/65976). Now all that's=

needed is approval from the samba-libsmbclient maintainer and a commit.
