boot into single user (the -s option a the boot prompt) - then
/sbin/fsck -p /sbin/mount -avtufs - the you should have enough stuff
to make all work

p.s.: this won't work if you set a password to the single user mode
by setting secure to insecure in /etc/ttys :-)
