Don't start a fight!  Both are good, but I picked FreeBSD because it
seemed to be more stable and robust for use as a server under load.  I
suggest you try both and decide for yourself.

Go to http://www.cdrom.com/titles/os/freebsd.htm and order the (cheap!)
cd-rom from Walnut Creek Cdrom.

If you have browser access, then point to http://www.freebsd.org/ and
read all of the documentation there.  

At the ftp site you should start with all of the *.TXT files.  I would
recommend you get the bin, flopies, manpages, ports, and maybe tools.

You can have the site bundle up what you want by requesting the
directory as a tar file or gziped tar file.  [ bin.tar or bin.tar.gz ]
