While reading http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.4R/installation-amd64.html#FLOPPIES I cam= e across a contradiction, step 1.3 indicates you cannot install FreeBSD/AMD64 via floppy, but step 1.4 indicates you can, and tells you to read step 1.3for instructions on how to do it.
