Getting paid to play, though some would say their time is worth more than that (and probably right) there is something to be said for seting something like that up and calling it your own. No matter what it paid you. I am currently making the *close* to the same wage on a P/T supporting a couple of sun boxes connected to a T1. The reason I do this is 2 fold. One I get a place to do some personal projects hooked up to a T1 for free. Also because I am wanting to prove a point to a group of people I work with at my *real* job I am replacing their systems with FreeBSD boxes... It is more of a labor of love than actully work. And yes I realize I am in the red as time goes. That is a personal decsion. > I've had a job offer for $90k that I turned down, and I could get a heck > of a lot more than was offered, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider > it. For a person in School or starting out it is good expirence (and FreeBSD is a wonderful learning platform). It is not taking away from any one else. The "big gunns" will stay away becaue of $$ and the fact they have no time. Unless it is a little more personal (see above). I have been reading this list for some time and have seen similar offers, why pick this one to flame? I guess the fact that this person is an alleged "head hunter" which are held in the same reguard as pond scum in some circles. The thing that irks me a bit is that the great "flame war" broke out over the almighty dollar. This on a platform that has the most "open" license there is. I just suprised me to see such a passionate argument over a matter of money. I hold the folks that frequent these lists in a higher reguard... I should hope this was a fluke. Just my 2 cents Thanks for reading John John C. Place Systems Specialist CTC Distribution Direct - York, PA placej@ctcdist.com Those who don't know UNIX are doomed to reinvent it...
