At first I thought you had sent a BSD/386 question to the FreeBSD news group. If that's the case, you've sent it to the wrong news group. I think the right one is users@bsdi.com. If, however, you want to run it under FreeBSD, I'm pretty sure the version for BSD/386 1.1 won't work. In that case, you should talk to XInside and get them to send you the right version (or the right instructions). There is a version available for FreeBSD, either now or Real Soon Now, but considering the version for BSD/386 1.1 won't even run on BSD/OS (the same OS) 2.0, it's pretty sure that it won't run on FreeBSD either. Assuming you have the right software and just the wrong instructions, you probably need to extract into /usr/X11R6/lib/X11, not /usr/X11/lib/X11. You still need to install the standard X11 packages first. The easiest way to do that is to install it when you're setting up the system. Since you've already got the system up and running, you might like to read the on-line handbook to find out how to install X11 on a running system.
