Thanks for your comment. 

This is not a BIOS problem, as my last bios flash was almost a year ago and 
have been running -CURRENT fine so far. In fact, I run multiple OSes on the 
machine and don't find the MB to be so "eval" (perhaps you meant evil...) as 
you say.
