I've had the same problem. Apparently there's been a second set of
changes in mtree since the new keyword. Just check your mtree is
up to date, if not, rebuild it and reinstall it, then remake the
world. It worked for me.

$ ident /usr/sbin/mtree 
/usr/sbin/mtree:
     $Id: compare.c,v 1.8 1997/10/01 06:30:00 charnier Exp $
     $Id: create.c,v 1.10 1998/06/05 14:43:39 peter Exp $
