Just make sure you set the permissions right if you're using startx instead of xdm to start it up: {/usr/X11R6/bin} root@mortis: %ll | grep S3 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 7 Sep 21 03:08 X@ -> XF86_S3 -rws--x--x 1 root wheel 2366718 Aug 4 03:47 XF86_S3* And setup the symlink from X to XF86_S3, or it won't work right.
