Looks like your DNS isn't properly set up.

I don't know if it's 100% essential, but you're unlikely to get any help
if you want to set up a mail server without DNS, as it really doesn't make
any sense.

The default configuration of Postfix when installed from ports runs, so
there's a 100% running configuration at your fingertips.
