Darn, I was under the mistaken impression that xref was deprecated and ulink was correct. I'm now assuming that both are equally correct, depending upon the desired text to be displayed?

This brings up a good question: if we plan to continue publishing hard copies of the handbook, is it better to use xref to automatically generate numbered handbook sections so that the reader of the print edition knows where in the volume to refer to?
