The std FTPD from FreeBSD log them at / pure-ftpd refuse to log them in because it cannot find the user's homedir. The accounts are ALL nfs mounted to a Netapp filer, and the problem only occurs for SOME users. Any NFS problem between FreeBSD and Netapp ? Thanks.
