Unknown :)  May work if its supported by an existing scsi driver; I
assume that's sym.

Can you try booting this kernel over tftp?

http://people.freebsd.org/~jake/main_sym.gz

If all goes well it'll get to the mountroot prompt and have probed the
disks properly.
