I'm typing this on a machine with a G200, on which I used portupgrade to upgrade the components of XFree86 from 4.1.0 to 4.2.0. I'm *not* using WITH_MATROX_GXX_DRIVER=yes. The mga driver complained a bit about not finding mga_hal, but otherwise, everything came up. As far as I can tell, I'm running the mga driver just fine. If you want, I can send you my config file and a log file (by private email to avoid spamming the list). I don't have much experience with debugging XFree86 configurations...maybe I've just gotten lucky? Bruce.
