Not having lpd is quite normal, unless something is | awaiting printing, and it's started each time by lpr. | If so, that's odd; BSD Unix should have a parent lpd started by init (or whatever): this one should spawn child lpd's to handle actual print jobs. Seen it on SunOS and HP BSD implementations, would hope that FreeBSD does the same thing. later...
