I've been unable to build gnome on my Freebsd 4.9-stable box,
so I tried the directions in the FAQ.

First I attempted the pkgdb -F ; portsupgrade -a route and that failed
in pangoxft with:

  In file included from pangoxft-private.h:25,
                   from pangoxft-font.c:26:
pangoxft.h:34: X11/Xft/Xft.h: No such file or directory
pangoxft.h:37: #error "must have Xft version 2 or newer"

and associated errors.

Then I did a:
   cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome2
   pkgdb -F
   pkg_delete -rf pkgconfig\*
   make clean
   make install clean
That failed while attempting to build libgtop2-2.0.8
with:

  Receiving libgtop-2.0.8.tar.bz2 (916084 bytes):
916084 bytes transferred in 6.7 seconds (133.30 kBps)

Any ideas on what to try next????

Thanks
Jim

The full script is available, it is large.
