I had a confirmation that firefox3 builds fine on amd64 under
7- and 8- branches.

I therefore wonder if my problems are due to the fact that the
build on alpha is done using gcc-3.4.6.

Accordingly, I'd like to try to build this port with gcc42 (4.2.5).

What is the easiest way to build this port with gcc42?
Can I specify it in make.conf somehow?
Do I need to redefine the default C, c++ compilers only? Linker?

thanks
anton
