For starters, it is recommended that before reporting problems, you rebuild the port using the default CFLAGS with no optimizations. Try building without the CPUTYPE and only the CFLAGS "-O -pipe" and see if the problem persists. If it does, make sure you do _not_ have NOLIBC_R=true in your /etc/make.conf. If you want to use GNOME (or any multi-threaded package), you must keep libc_r up-to-date with your -stable or -current world.
